(Bio-Technology), B.Sc. (Maritime), B.Sc. (Nautical Science), B.Sc. (Home Science), B.Sc. (Aviation) and Law (5 years) programmes for the Academic Year 2019 -20.

The first cut-off list for degree colleges will be released at 6pm on Thursday. Owing to the increasing number of high scorers in Class XII, college principals are expecting higher cut-offs for professional courses.

"The lists do not vary much but because of CBSE and ICSE percentages, cut-offs have been increasing each year."

In 2014, the cut-offs for commerce courses were higher compared to arts and science. "Cut-offs this year won't be the same as last year and are expected to increase 2-3% due to better Class XII results," said Tukaram Shiware, principal, Hinduja College.

The second merit list of leading institutes affiliated to Mumbai University, which was declared on Thursday, brought little relief to students with cut-offs barely dropping by an average 1-2% percentage points for commerce courses.

Eligibility limits for coveted courses like BMS, BBI and BAF fell by merely some decimal points. Admissions were closed for some of these courses in several top-rung colleges, leaving many aspirants disappointed.

For instance, at HR College, the cut-off for BCom in Accounting and Finance (BAF) in the second list was 95.0% (it was 95.4% in the first list). The BMS cut-off dropped by 0.6 percent points from 95.8% to 95.2%. Even the cut-off for BCom didn't decline beyond 3% in the city.

However, BSc (IT) and BSc (Computer Science) saw a decline of 5-10% in several colleges and most of the aspirants have already got admissions in their preferred colleges.

The BSc (IT) list closed at a maths score of 70-80%, which is a drop of 5-10% – this is low as compared to previous years' cut-off marks. At Ruparel college, the list of BSc (IT) closed at 70, while the figure at NM College was 63.

While Arts cut off dropped between 7% and 10% in most colleges with the second merit list closing at 70-80%, at St Xavier's, which is known for its Arts stream, the list closed at 90.31%. The first list of the institute had closed at 92.15%.
